From the Vertical Files

Images of a rattlesnake eating a hamster. From an exhibition at the AMNH in 1955 on photography entitled “The Camera at the Museum”.  Lew was to do a piece on the show in U.S. Camera, and these images were among the promotional materials.  A very conservative show, that included many early stock-like images of animals and bones from the collection at the time. About 100 images were shown out of the 200,000 negatives on file there.  A really boring display, even if you like that type of stuff, like I do.  Although, there was a gem or two, including this series.
